Anil Gulecha has announced the availability of the second release candidate for Nexenta Core Platform 3.0, an OpenSolaris-based server distribution: "On behalf of the Nexenta project, I'd like to announce the availability of the Nexenta Core Platform 3.0 RC2. The main changes over the RC1 release include dozens of ON fixes backported to OpenSolaris b134 and bug fixes. Features: based on OpenSolaris build 134+ with backports and fixes from later releases; ZFS deduplication support; Crossbow support; over 13,000 packages in the repository; based on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS repository; includes latest APT, GCC, Binutils, Coreutils, Perl, Python, Ruby, Qt and GTK+ libraries; SMF support added for server applications like Apache, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Exim; 100% native Debian environment, easy to upgrade, easy to use; includes apt-clone which brings ZFS power to apt-get."
