Development Release: NuTyX 2010 RC1 |

Thierry Nuttens has announced the availability of the first release candidate for NuTyX 2010, a French desktop Linux distribution built from Linux From Scratch. What's new? The new version comes with wicd as the default network management utility; a bug preventing the launch of the distribution from an ext3/4 partition has been resolved; the framebuffer modules which prevented many graphics cards from initialising have been blacklisted; now it's possible to set the date and time during system installation; the 'ati', 'nv' and 'intel' X.Org drivers are now installed by default; the unnecessary services are no longer started - this makes for a faster boot and a lighter desktop. Major components: Linux kernel 2.6.33.3, GCC 4.5.0, glibc-2.11.2, Perl 5.10.1, Python 2.6.5, udev 156, X.Org Server 1.8.1, KDE 4.4.85. Here is the full release announcement (in French).
